August Doorbell Cam Pro is designed to replace an existing doorbell and uses power from an existing chime circuit from 12V to 24V AC (most standard US chimes).
August Doorbell Cam Pro is designed to work with mechanical chimes (most standard “ding-dong” chimes, which use solenoids to strike chime plates)
August Doorbell Cam Pro will not work with digital chimes (i.e. chimes that include a speaker and an electronic circuit playing a music file).
