August Home Adds IFTTT Integration to Smart Lock

Today we are announcing that the August Smart Lock works with IFTTT (which stands for “If This Then That”). IFTTT allows people to create “recipes” that connect the services, devices and apps they love and use every day, including Facebook, Twitter, Evernote, Gmail, Nest, Fitbit, and Slack. Now when an August Smart Lock user locks/unlocks their Smart Lock, it can trigger a recipe that automates a task.

In the IFTTT August Home Channel, you can now find recipes that do everything from turning on your lights when your door is unlocked, turning off your oven when you lock your door to receiving notifications on your BMW dashboard when your door is unlocked.
“IFTTT is one of the top requested features by our Smart Lock customers and the IFTTT community,” said Jason Johnson, CEO of August Home. “Consumers are using more connected devices as part of their daily routine. Our partnership with IFTTT significantly expands the products and services that can work with our Smart Lock to automate both simple and complex tasks.”
A few recommended recipes include:
  • August Home + Philips Hue – Turn on my lights when my door is unlocked
  • August + BMW – Receive a notification to my BMW dashboard when my door is unlocked.
  • August Home + GE – Turn off my oven when my door is locked
